In this sermon, Ted Olsen walks through Psalm 23 and gives the historical setting for this familiar Psalm. He encourages us to make sure we know the Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
We know who Jesus is: He existed from the beginning, He is the Word of Life, eternal life, the giver of joy. He is the light, the truth, our salvation, our advocate and our atonement. These are all things we’ve learned about Jesus in 1st John up through this point. And since we know these things, we should have the desire to be obedient to his commands. | Listen to Pastor Trent as he teaches through the 1st John chapter 2.
If we are living in darkness, we don’t get this fellowship. “and there is no darkness in him at all.” It doesn’t exist! We don’t get to have fellowship with if we are living in darkness. That only happens if we are living in the light. | Listen to Pastor Trent continue to teach through the book of 1st John.
We learned about the mind-set and attitude of selfless humility last week; this week we see it on full display in the humiliation and exaltation of Christ.
